Greenpeace's education programme
Greenpeace Germany’s education programme provides educational materials about classic environmental issues such as climate change, biodiversity loss or sustainable lifestyles as well as closely related societal topics such as democracy and peace. Our work with and for learners is aligned to official school curricula and complies with the broadly recognised guidelines of the "Beutelsbach Consensus" for political education in Germany.Sustainability is of great importance to children and young people. Hence Greenpeace supports schools with their efforts to transform school life towards sustainability and becoming climate neutral by implementing a “ Whole School Approach”. Also, Greenpeace is committed at the political level to work for structural integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in German school curricula and contributes scientific analysis on different aspects of ESD-implementation in Germany.
“Schools for Earth”, a project supporting schools on their way to becoming climate neutral, will be in the spotlight of Greenpeace’s stall at this year's “didacta” education fair. Furthermore new publications include educational materials covering the topics meat consumption and production as well as mobility.
All of Greenpeace’s educational materials and teacher trainings are available to teachers free of charge.
Greenpeace is international, non-partisan and independent of politics, political parties and industry. As non-profit registered charity Greenpeace’s goal is to raise awareness about national and global environmental problems and to prevent degradation and destruction of the natural environment - the foundation of all life on earth.
