Sustainability in kindergartens - just a trend?

The focus on sustainability is of great importance in the kindergarten context. But how is sustainability actually implemented in the centres? Is it just about using waste products for craft activities? 

The concept of education for sustainable development has a broader perspective. It requires a holistic approach that takes into account social, ecological and economic aspects. In this respect, sustainability, which is firmly anchored in the everyday life of the kindergarten, should serve to convey pedagogical values and at the same time promote the responsible use of resources. This should be possible without any additional effort on the part of the teaching staff.

The FRÖBEL kindergarten Am Pfalzplatz in Mannheim is a good example of how sustainability can be implemented in the day-to-day life of the centre.
