The event
The digital age has long since dawned. More and more schools are working with tablets, apps, learning platforms and interactive whiteboards. The blackboard and chalk of the past are a thing of the past almost everywhere. So why stop at kindergarten?
After all, education starts with the youngest children. This is where teachers lay the foundations for learning and the acquisition of skills by each individual. Teaching good media skills and sensitising children in a playful and age-appropriate way to the dangers that the digital world in particular can bring is a top priority.
Isn't it better if children learn how to use media well and, above all, in an age-appropriate way and then use it as a tool for learning and discovery, rather than demonising it and turning it into "forbidden fruit" that is then used purely as a consumer product?
Christina Jakobs reports on her experiences with digital media in kindergarten and is available to answer questions.
