KNH - Kindernothilfe
Kindernothilfe is one of the largest German non-governmental organizations for development cooperation and humanitarian aid. In 2022, its income amounted to 72.3 million euros. Kindernothilfe has been working for disadvantaged children and their rights in countries of the Global South since 1959. It currently empowers, protects and involves more than 2.1 million children and young people through 523 projects in 36 countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America and Europe.Kindernothilfe is also committed to the interests of children in developing countries in Germany. It uses campaign work to educate the public and advocacy work to influence politicians to stand up for children in developing countries and improve the legal framework for them.
Kindernothilfe also works with child and youth welfare institutions in Germany to develop individual and child rights-based protection concepts to protect children and young people in schools, daycare centers and clubs from violence of all kinds. For schools or communities, Kindernothilfe offers age-appropriate teaching materials on children's rights topics for various classes and draws attention to child labor worldwide with its "Action!Kidz" school campaign in German schools.
Kindernothilfe has received the donation seal of approval from the German Central Institute for Social Issues (DZI) every year since 1992 for its serious handling of donations. As part of the Transparency Award and through audits by various independent experts and media companies, Kindernothilfe has received several awards for its high-quality and transparent reporting.
Kindernothilfe is affiliated with the Diakonisches Werk of the Protestant Church in the Rhineland. It works in numerous alliances of non-governmental organizations, including being a member of Bündnis Entwicklung Hilft.
